Mills Days outside the UK

The UK holds its National Mills Weekend on generally the second weekend of May.

Other countries also organise their own National Mills days, and some go as far as holding regional Mills Days as well.

The Netherlands

Nationale molendag

The Netherlands also has a National Mills Day ("Nationale Molendag"), often the Saturday of the same weekend of the year as the UK one. Contact: De Hollandsche Molen Vereniging, Sarphatistraat 634, 1018 AV, Amsterdam. Tel: 011-31-20-6238703. In 2005, this is Saturday, 14th May, where in common with the past few years, it is now being styled as "Nationale Molen en Gemalendag" - mill and grinding day, to help emphasise the working aspect of the mills on this day.

Some info in English

See also the De Hollandsche Molen website, and their news page, though all information here is in Dutch.

Other info (again in Dutch!)

Deutschen Mühlentag

The German mills day is normally held on a public holiday in May. In 2005, it is on Monday 16th May (a Holiday Monday).

Some info may be found under the entry Mühlentag 2005 on this German mills page.
