Offered for sale in 1809: The Day - Wednesday 19 April 1809

A Post Windmill, Edmonton. By Messrs. ADAMSON and FIELD, At Jack's Coffee-House, Mark-Lane, on Monday, May 1, at 12, THE LEASE of a Piece of GROUND, of which twenty-seven years are unexpired, on which is erected a capital Post Windmill, with two pair of French stones, and other apparatus, situated at Tanner's End, near the Bull, Edmonton; the purchaser may at any time during the term have the privilege of removing the mill. - To be viewed anytime, by applying at the Bell, Edmonton, where Particulars may be had; and the Cherry-tree Southgate; at Garraway's and Jack's Coffee-houses; and of Messrs. Adamson and Field, 58 Fenchurch-street.

Edmonton post mill in an advanced state of decay. The postcard over-caption states "The old wheel forming the gate is the first steam made wheel manufactured in England", but the card was previously issued without that, so that may be a later fiction to sell more cards. , c1920

Entry in Mills Archive database - #11525 - Huxley Mill, Edmonton (has photos)

Built before 1819. By 1867 a steam mill had been built alongside the windmill. The mill had fallen into disuse by the begining of the 20th century and was eventually demolished.
