NGR: SU383471reduced size post mill - Construction 2008-2012 at David Hayward's home. Now relocated to local farm park.
The mill is half sized, dimensionally based on the one at Pitstone, using a combination of traditional materials and, where applicable, modern technologies such as thrust bearings etc. It is capable of milling flour using a single pair of stones sourced from the late, great Fred Dibnah.
By Nov 2010, most of the internals of the buck were in place, though the stones awaited dressing. During 2011, the post and trestle were completed, and the buck was lifted up in to location over Christmas 2011. During Spring 2012 all four sails were added to complete the project, which had a gala opening in Summer 2012.
In Summer 2016 the mill was moved to a permanent home at Finkley Down Farm, which is but a few miles from where it was built.
