windmills 100 years of windmills on postage stamps

Item: #776, Posted: 9/1/11

After having been quiet for over 5 years, the "Biblioteca del Tio Kinke" (one of the early extensive web sites about windmills) has had an update of sorts. This update is in the form of a 36MB downloadable PDF file containing a fully illustrated catalog of Windmills on Stamps, updated with 2011 releases. (A previous version of this document was produced in 2006, and indeed some of the material was available via the website before that. The title of "100 years of Windmill stamps" has not been updated since the earlier version - the earliest stamp given dates from 1905).

The catalog, announced and linked from the site's new updates page is 279 pages long, and covers postage stamps showing traditional windmills, wind engines, wind engines, and even cartoon windmills.

There is little text in the catalog, so the fact that it is in Spanish is not normally a problem, but the PDF has unfortunately been produced in such a way that the text that is present is not accessible, so it cannot be passed through a translation service when needed.
