The Walthamstow Historical Society meets once a month during the winter season; usually the meeting consists of a talk about a historical topic relevant to Walthamstow. The meeting on Saturday 15 January 2011 is at 10.30am to be held at the Vestry House Museum.

At this meeting there will be the launch of the book 'The Road to the Walthamstow Windmill and the neighbouring mills of Leyton and Woodford'. The book is actually a revision and an update of a book called the Walthamstow Windmill which was published by the society in 1970; current committee member David Chapman has done some more research and revised and updated the book. The book will be available directly from the Society, from Waterstones in the Selborne Walk, and the shop in the Vestry House Museum. It has been a key object of the Society since it was founded nearly 100 years ago to publish books about Walthamstow history.

Another item at the meeting is to look at the early history of the Vestry House when serving its original purpose of the parish workhouse. Coffee and tea will be served. Guests are welcome. The meeting is free to members of the Society while the charge for guests is £1.50.
