I've taken the title of this news item from an album of photos of both Golden Gate windmills that I've just come across. In some respects this album is not really news, since the photos were taken almost two years ago, but I'm sorry to say that little progress has been made in the meantime.
I've written before of the Murphy Windmill restoration, and the fact that it seems almost impossible to find out information about the project. This album of photos was taken by someone with privleged access to the project, and we can see some of the building plans that are being used.
Whoever it was that was working on the Murphy Windmill also had access to the Dutch windmill, and there are some great shots of that mill as well, including ones taken from the fantail platform. There are also pictures of a large motor, which it looks as if this is used to rotate the Dutch windmill sails - that's not the way it's supposed to be - a windmill should be a producer of power, not a consumer.Mills: [us1] [us2] Tags: [usa] [restoration]
