AUCKLAND WATERWORKS COMPANY.
NOTICE is hereby given that application will be made to the General Assembly at the next Session thereof, for an Act to constitute and incorporate a Company to be called the Auckland Waterworks Company; and to enable such Company to make, construct, complete, and maintain Waterworks commencing at the Onehungu Springs, at or near Mr. Bycroft's Mill in Onehunga, thence passing through certain lands to One Tree Hill to a Reservoir to be formed there, and thence through certain other lands to the Highway leading from Onehunga to Auckland aforesaid, at or near to a house in the occupation of Mr. Simpson, thence along the said Highway to its junction with a certain other Highway called the Kyber Pass Road, and thence by two branches - one proceeding along the first-named Highway to Parnell, and the other proceeding along the said Kyber Pass Road to a certain field adjoining such road belonging or reputed to belong to Mr. McLachlan to a Reservoir to be formed there, and thence along the said last-named Highway to its junction with a certain other Highway called the Cemetery Road, and thence down such last mentioned Highway to or near to the Windmill at the junction of the said last-mentioned Highway with a certain other Highway called Karangahape Road, and from such place and from Parnell aforesaid by pipes and other works into, through, or under the highways, streets, lanes, and places within the town and suburbs of Auckland or part thereof respectively all in the County of Eden in the province of Auckland, with all reservoirs, cisterns, tanks, aqueducts, drains, cuts, sluices, pipes, culverts, engines, and other works and buildings necessary for the making, maintaining, completing, and using such Waterworks; and to contract for purchase and hold messuages, lands, tenements, and hereditaments required for the said undertaking, & to take messuages, lands, tenements, and compulsorily, and to hold the same either permanently or for temporary occupation; and to take and impound, direct, and collect streams, courses, and springs of water; and to raise money by shares in the said undertaking; and to raise a further sum of money by mortgage of the rates and other property of the Company and the future calls on the Shareholders therein; and to open and break up streets, roads, highways, lanes, squares, and alleys and to lay pipes therein for the purposes of the said Waterworks and premises; and to furnish a supply of water for the domestic uses of the inhabitants of the said town and suburbs, and a further supply for the public uses thereof, and for the extinguishing of fires therein; and to levy rates upon the persons requiring, receiving, or using such supply of water; and to enter into contracts and agreements with any other persons for a supply of water by the Company to them for domestic, agricultural, or manufacturing purposes; and to enable the Company to assign and transfer the said rates and other property to the Superintendent for the time being of the province of Auckland as a security for the annual sum of £3000, in case the Legislature of such province shall pass an Act guaranteeing to the said Company and its Mortgagees the annual payment of such sum.
