Harvest. - The wheat harvest has commenced in the neighbourhood of Kaiapoi; the crops are good and likely to be got in in good condition. Mr. Woodford's mill will be in operation in about a fortnight, and will be a great boon to the farmers there, as under present circumstances no export can be looked for.Lyttelton Times, Volume VII, Issue 463, 11 April 1857, Page 7

A navigable stream flows through the wood and by some valuable agricultural land to join the Waimakariri just above Kaiapoi. All this country, it will be seen is well provided with water carriage. At a little distance up the river a water flour mill has just been opened, which will supply a want hitherto very much felt in this district.Lyttelton Times, Volume XII, Issue 721, 5 October 1859, Page 6
