The Winton Flour Mill. — We have received a sample of the flour produced at the Winton Steam Flour Mills. It is of a good color, and seems excellent in quality. The mill has been at work for about a month, and during that time 3000 bushels of wheat have been ground, and from 60 to 70 tons of flour turned out.Southland Times, Issue 2150, 12 July 1875

BLACK & M'WILLIAM, Proprietors.
Mr Black responded, and traced the progress of the Winton steam flour mill, built by his own personal labor, and though an unpretending building, contained as good machinery as could be found in the colony. The quality of tbe flour produced had greatly improved of late, and would continue to do so, as the means of railway communication increased the facilities for obtaining different blends of grain.Southland Times, Issue 4293, 12 April 1882

H. DUNCAN Proprietor
The above mill having just been completed and fitted up in a substantial manner the proprietor desires to inform settlers in and around Winton that he is now prepared to purchase milling grain in any quantity at the best market prices. He trusts to receive the liberal support of the Farmers and business community, and will endeavor to merit same by strict and careful attention to all favors entrusted to him.
Our lignite (when inferior to what it is now) was used with success by Mr Whittaker on the Otautau Nightcaps line in steaming the locomotive, it was also used at the Winton steam flour mills; and it has given entire satisfaction in the district for several years.
